Research group activities

This page lists what Child and Community Development (CCD) research group plans to achieve and has already achieved to date.

2010

In 2010 we intend to:

  • Begin publishing the online International Research in Early Childhood Education (IRECE) Journal
  • Plan an international conference in Ghana in 2012
  • Make a preliminary team visit to Ghana in August 2010 led by Professor Marilyn Fleer
  • Continue Early Childhood Education project in Sierra Leone
  • Continue Africa and Staff capacity building initiative at the Department of Basic Education, University of Cape Coast, Ghana

2009

In 2009 the main activities included:

  • Host a series of seminars to work further on the important research questions we are investigating
  • Continue to host a series of Research BITES – where staff present their research
  • Conduct reading groups
  • Internationalise the ARECE journal
  • Internationalise the ARECE conference
  • Host international visitors
  • Some staff will participate in the Vygotsky Summer School 2009 in Russia
  • Supervise a PhD student at Monash and Russian State University for the Humanities
  • Conduct a video analysis workshop

2008

In 2008 the main activities included:

  • Conducted a symposium based on the group’s investigation of the Australian Early Development Index (AEDI)
  • Hosted visiting scholars from Russia
  • Conducted a Vygotsky symposium
  • Secured a contract with Springer for the development of a series of international publications specifically on early childhood education and development. 
  • Signed an MOU with UK Open University Early Childhood Research Team
  • Signed an MOU with the Vygotsky Institute at the Russian State University for the Humanities
  • Development of research projects
  • Conducted a series of Research BITES – where staff presented their research
