Child and Community Development (CCD) research group

Early childhood education is firmly on the agenda both nationally and internationally. Our Research Team actively researches and theorises early childhood development nationally and internationally and recognises the important role educators, formal institutions, family and community play in this process. Whilst a large number of researchers have internationally recognised expertise in applying cultural historical theory to early childhood development the group prides itself in its ability to work collaboratively acrossdiverse methodologies and theoretical tools to find new and innovative ways to research and theorise early childhood development. This requires working in the contact zone where we attempt to understand new thinking which can be both uncomfortable and transformational.

Our main research goal is to question how child development is currently measured, and to discover new measurement tools.

Conference

The International Research in Early Childhood Education (IRECE) Conference is an international forum, run by the members of this research group, where researchers and students in early childhood can share research endeavours.

Online journal

The International Research in Early Childhood Education (IRECE) journal is run by the members of this research group. It is designed to provide new opportunities for the early childhood education research community internationally to expand its scope on a variety of theoretical, practical and policy issues.
